In my limited experience with Good Sam and roadside assistance in general, an hour and 13 minutes is NOT that long to wait. Any roadside assistance service is nothing more than a network of independent service providers who put themselves on a list to take service calls coming in from the central dispatch that you call. Depending on where you are and what you need done, it can take a while for them to find someone that can help you. Just because you are only 6 miles from a town doesn't mean that they have service providers in that town that are signed on to participate.
I can tell you from my experience that Good Sam is as good as any other, they WILL help you but they won't guarantee how soon. I prefer Good Sam because they will take care of the trailer not just the truck.
Honestly I think some folks sign up for these services and think they have a driver sitting in a tow truck waiting for the phone to ring to assist a stranded motorist. Of course they want you to believe that when you sign up but that's just not the case....and not picking on Good Sam, any roadside assistance is like that. Sorry to hear about your difficulties, but if you need to call any roadside assistance service for anything, the best thing you can do for your own blood pressure is cancel whatever plans you had for the rest of the day.
