Is it possible that you discussed your situation with the Good Sam dispatcher and that she determined that you needed something repaired to make your MH roadworthy?
I'm sorry but I make my living fixing things for people and there is all too often a perception of degrees of work by the customer, those shifts in perceptual range are taken to equate with price. I recently had to discuss this with a customer that needed me to "peek" at his engine to make it run correctly. You see, a "peek" is less work than "taking a look at" or even laying hands on the malfunctioning item.
A bigger question for me is how you are going to have satisfactory use of your older MH without a tool onboard. Of course, the ultimate tool is a fat wallet but there may be some inconvenience with that.
