Good Sam membership payed for itself and then some

New to RV'ing, have made two weekend trips so far. Went to Camping World for first time ever last week to make a few purchases. They asked if I was a member and said no. They told me about the $5 membership sale so I went ahead and signed up. My $140+ worth of purchases was reduced to about $120 with the member discount. Nice unexpected bonus to my shopping trip. :C

Sounds like you did well. Just don't compare prices with other sources and you'll remain happy. Can't beat Camping World for selection, availability and convenience.

Yeah, sometimes you pay for convenience/local selection.
  • How much discount do you get with a Good Sam Membership? 5, 10, 15 percent???

$20?? Under the 'consolidation" GS members are automatically CW members. If you are not aware of this you get to twice!
However - if you paid to join CW, I understand you automatically are a member of GS. I think that is how it works but it is all confusing. Maybe Marcus' crew will explain it again?

The Camping World President's Club no longer exists. If you had a CW PC membership it was changed to Good Sam. The memberships sold at CW now are Good Sam memberships.
  • I would renew my expired membership (expired about 5 years ago) if they offered me a deal. I do not consider $5 off to be put on auto renewal a deal that helps me though.

  • That is a good deal, it is for new customers only. The rest of us have to pay $20. What some of these big companies do not realize is how many people get angry about this and refuse to re-join. Just like satellite TV. I have had Dish Network for over 15 years without a single late payment. Everytime I want to upgrade they try to charge for me for it when it is free to new customers. I just tell them I will just switch to Direct TV as it is free. They transfer me to the customer retention department and they wave the fee-go figure. Over the years I have let my Good Sam membership expire just for this reason. In a few weeks they send a "special deal" to re-join. Why don't they just offer that rate in the beginning. But Good Sam is still worth it, even at $20.
  • Well that worked out great and with money back in your pocket, and saved thriple the money in the cost of the membership also check with GS and they may send you a coupon for a free might of camping for joining. Again Welcome aboard. And RV Safe out there.
