Good Sam Rally/ Convention

Well the last thread for rally was closed due to lack of activity.
How weird when this subject brought up. Yeah not many people replied.
Me, Just wondering how many people would actually attend another Good Sam Rally, like the one about 8 years ago in Phoenix, the only ones We attended were Redmond Oregon, Phoenix Arizona, Albuquerque NM. We had a nice time with the seminars, exhibits etc. but mostly the visiting and meeting new people with likes of traveling and enjoying the outdoors.
I also emailed Marcus with questions about the rallies, of course NO RESPONSE. HM if were not happy is he really not happy???
This thread may get closed too! Just thoughts rambling through this crazy mind of mine. YOU!?!?!?!?
  • As some said on the other thread. The kind of person that would go to a rally is disappearing. Look at site availability…..I can go almost anywhere during “normal” camping season that I want Sunday thru Thursday. Friday/Saturday ?? Forget it. Families don’t even take week long camping trips anymore.
    The generations behind the Boomers are less social therefore leading to a smaller chance of wanting to be involved in a rally. If you wonder around a campground, more than likely, the only people who are open to a conversation, anything past the polite hello, are the Boomers. I think only the large, factory driven rallies will be able to survive for at least a few more years.
  • Cmarkj's opinion is right on IMO. I went to one rally and was less than impressed. Most were not interested in activities I enjoy. They seem to want to chew the fat all day and half the night seated in a chair.
  • I’m a boomer and have never even considered going to a major rally. Don’t go to fb games, rarely go to any large gathering of folks. Going to a CG with a few other Camper/RV’s is about as far as I’ll go for group get togethers. As far as communicating to other folks walking around the CG do it all the time.

    Could also have to do with GS/CW are not well thought of by a large number of folks.
  • It's not that the other (younger) generations aren't as social, it's that:

    1) most are still working and don't want to spend their free time attending seminars and networking, etc;

    2) they have a different concept on how to enjoy life. Boomers are far more likely to buy an RV an make it a lifestyle. Other generations buy an RV as a means to do other things. They don't want to spend their time talking RVs.
  • well I guess i'm the only one out there that seems to enjoy going and doing some stuff, checking out new and or improved products etc. besides enjoying this life style. but that is me. guess it is what it is.
    make it a great day. I will
  • Im in my 80s and have been to a few rallys and would go again I bought my MH at a rally, had really good times
  • The Washington State Good Sams has three rallies annually in Lynden, Moses Lake, and Cashmere. I believe they are well attended, however, attendance is dropping. I've spoken to people who have attended and they had a really good time.
