Good Sam Reputation & Service

I'm new to the RV world and knew that I should enroll in a club to obtain savings on fuel, supplies and vehicle support. So I went to Google. The negative and disparaging complaints and reviews concerning GS on Google are stagerring. If I owned the company, I'd have staff calling every single one of thesen people and do something for them. Discount a renewal, a camping world discount or something to make sure they were completely taken care of and then ask them to do another review or post. However, it looks like GS is the 800 pound gorilla and doesn't feel any company can compete with them so why worry about those reviews and posts.

To me, this is a terrible business decision to let pages and pages of horrible reviews exist that greet people when they Google a company. What does this say about company management, are they incompetent? What does it say to new customers, your chances of good service are pretty slim?

Any comments by GS upper management would be welcome.

Sounds like you have a solution to the problem. Why don't you swoop in and capture all those customers that are complaining. Ever think that maybe nobody wants to deal with all those complainers? They are usually more trouble than they are worth.
  • Son of Norway, thanks for your input. I have to agree with you, customers that are dissatisfied are the ones that complain. However, why not take of care of these people and make them satisfied customers? The mark of a great company is what they do after they drop the ball on a customer.
  • Son of Norway,

Thank you for contacting Good Sam and sharing your feedback with us; have a great day!

    Thanks,

  • In fairness to CW. It is usually the people that have a complaint and are irritated enough to want to go online and post it that we see on the forums. I'm sure that many people have had good experiences with CW but don't leave a review. We have had generally good experiences, with a couple of exceptions.

  • Good Sam has always been pretty remote and immune to customer complaints even back 15 years ago when I first got into RV'ing. From their staggering amount of junk mailings once you're on their list to their untrained roadside service call center, they just don't care what you think.

And the CEO of Camping World (who is also the owner) says publicly that he wants nothing to do with fixing any RVs even the ones he sells. And that shows in the huge turn over of RV techs, the lack of training for the ones that remain, and the amazing amount of damage they do to many of the RVs brought in for service.

Stay away. Never use your real address on anything GS or CW related.
