Good Sam Roadside Assistance experience on May 5th.
There have been many postings of negative GS roadside experiences, I usually take those with a grain of salt. Because so many times the fuming individual doesn't want to let it go, and posts that bad experience. No fault to that...... Especially if deserving......
But, the same should also happen when it is positive, but to many times there is no drive to do so.
I was pulling my 40ft 5th wheel up a long narrow grade when fuel injection, over temp fuel return and low fuel pressure problems came along and put me into limp mode and then completely shut off. Even after it cooled down, it wouldn't start. Luckily, I was able to get it to the top of the grade, and off into a open parking lot with the help of my buddy pulling this whole rig the last 200 feet..... And out of any traffic.
A call into GS was met with a very kind individual, but I was so frazzled, I did not get her name......
It was getting later in the evening (around 6pm), and all services were closed. But she sensed my frustration and dealt with me with a good sense of humor.
I know there was a Chevy service center in the last town I went thru, 35 miles away, and she worked to get approval to get the truck towed there, even though she could not get a confirmation they could do the repair.
After all was said and done, only approximately 30 minutes after the initial call was made, she was able to verify with me that a tow was confirmed. Followed up with a TEXT having all the needed info from the Tow company.
15 minutes after hanging up with her, the tow company called me, and gave me a ETA.
Truck got picked up, and delivered to the Chevy dealership in the town. Since I had access to another vehicle, I did not go with the tow truck. I stayed in my trailer overnight.
Not long after the truck was towed, I received a phone call to validate that the tow had been completed or was being completed.
The next morning, using my buddies truck, I was able to go into town, explain the issue, and by 11am, had the truck back, problem fixed, and drove it back to my trailer, hooked up and finished out the weekend in our camping spot.
I have had GS Road service for 14 years, and have never needed to use it. Which is how I view any insurance. Its there as a security blanket if something comes up, Just hope never to need to use it......
This time of need worked out very well. Was simple and all went very smooth for a very frustrating situation for me and my family.
Thank you GS.
