Good Sam RSA not so good!

I have had GS for almost 10 years now and when I first got it my DW locked her keys in her car and they came right away and unlocked her door and the same thing with my oldest sons car the same year great service. Haven't needed to use them till recently when I had a blow out on my 5th wheel 30 miles from Corpus Christi on a Friday around 1:00 pm. I called them and they said they would call back with a time they could come. I waited and waited and with me by myself on the shoulder of Hwy 281there was no way I was going to try. I decided to drive to the next exit and found a tire shop on the corner and had it replaced in 15 mins. GS called back 2 hours later and said they would have someone there in 3 more hours. That is not good service at all. I told them its fixed and I would like them to paid for the service charge of $20. I have not received a check only renewal notices. Few weeks ago had flat at my office and again GS said couldn't find anyone to replace the flat. I then thought of Ram care RSA and they were there and had it replaced in the dark 30 mins later. I'm done with Good Sam and will not renew my membership.
I would like to know if others are having good service from them lately. Sorry for the rant but needed to vent I guess.

  • I understand about the local contractors but 40 miles from a major city in Texas and I had to talk to three people because they count find my membership number. I saw the post from Rudy and I'll send him an PM and talk with him. Let you know how it goes.
  • Last time I used RSA was in '04, well until this week anyway. Called them up and gave them the info. Few min. later GS sent me a text message with the name of the towing company and their arrival time, which was less than 60 min. The tow truck arrived early so we were on our way in just under 1 hr. GS called back while we were on the road to verify the job was taken care of. So, I have no complaints.
  • Good Evening Gbuilders,
I would like to escalate your issue to our Executive desk for investigation and follow up with you. Can you please send us a private message with your contact information and I will forward that to our leadership team.

Thank you ....Rudy, Good Sam Response Team.
  • Moved to GSRA forum from 5th wheels. Hopefully this move will get you some response and help from company reps.

  • We chose to go with "Coach Net" after researching peoples experiences with "Good Sam RSA" and "Coach Net".
Not long after we joined "Coach Net", we went camping in the mountains of Idaho. While trying to unlock the trailer door, I broke the key off in the lock. I called "Coach Net" and within an hour and a half they were there and had us in the trailer, the lock fixed and a new key made.
Needless to say this one service call more than paid for our years membership.

That is partially true. Also, what the ERS pays to the local contractors dramatically controls the quality of service and response.
  • So far as I'm concerned all of these ERS are at the mercy of their local contractors. They do not own any tow trucks they just contract with some local tow service. And the further you get away from civilization, something we RVers are prone to do, the worse the service will be. It's just a fact of geography

Exactly what more people need to ask themselves. I've been looking through all the owners manuals for the yet to be built new mh. Ford provides free roadside service, but, have not heard if anyone had tried it.
  • Might have had a higher visibility if posted in the Good Sam Roadside Assistance forum.

FWIW, we waited over 4 hours for Coachnet to come get our truck & trailer (one tow truck each). Then my wife had to call her mother to get a ride home because the second tow truck could only take one passenger.

It all worked out and it was better than having nothing.
