goodsam insurance

I have an 2012 cedar creek silverback. It developed a soft spot in the floor so I took it to camping world. Told them I have goodsam insurance. I was informed goodsam ins. does not cover any thing wood or metal. What a Joke. Guess what I told goodsam to do with their insurance. I guess that is how they get you. Check your policies guys.
There is no evidence of water damage or any damage at all. I called cedar creek. They said not our problem --out of warranty. I guess quality workmanship does not count any more. I have receipts where I had the slide outs lubed and had them replaced one time. Anyone considering a cedar creek should look at my pictures first. You can then make up your own mind. Am I bitter, you bet your ass I am.

  • My name is Bob Gant. I bought a 2012 cedar creek silverback from J & M Camper in Augusta, Maine. I bought Good Sam insurance thinking it was for extended warranty. I filed claims for two small issues that were paid. Now it turns out I have a soft spot in the floor of one of the slide outs. Good Sam says sorry we don't cover any thing metal or wood. (What a Joke). My rv has been under a carport when we are not on the road. There is no sign of damage or water leakage I had two different techs look at it and both said it came from the factory that way. Well guess what CC says. Sorry out of warranty. Your problem. I have receipts where I had the seals lubed and even replaced one time.
What else would you like to know?

  • bgant4,

I apologize for the claim issues. Could you please send me a private message with your contact information? I would like to take a closer look at this.

    Thank you,

  • This is the very reason that I thoroughly read through my insurance policy to know what is covered and what isn't. Also another reason that I am very meticulous about maintenance, both scheduled and routine preventive.

The old cliche when it comes to RV's "water is not our friend" certainly holds true. If there is an opening, water will find it and invade. When water comes in, it will make its presence known in the strangest of places and often far from the actual entry point.

This is certainly not a good experience for the OP, but at the same time I understand why the issue may not be covered by insurance or extended warranty. I hope all ends well.

You are on the right track here. I would not expect insurance to cover a soft spot unless the spot was caused by an accident, burst water pipe, or other sudden event. What caused the soft spot? I'm not even sure an extended warranty would cover it.

  • Thats sad. Seems like we need a lawyer for the simplest things, reading the fine print.
