Great ERS AGAIN...

The other day I posted what great service I got from Good Sam ERS. Well, today, another tire blowout...and again, the same great service. Took a little longer to reach me, but I was in a very safe place, so was good with that. Considering the holiday weekend, I was very impressed.

BTW, I am back on my own site tonight. Monday will start shopping for 3 tires. These tires are a tad over 3 years and look great.

Thank you Good Sam.

  • Thanks, darben..I did get my answer today today from a highly recommended tire shop. For info only, mainly because it is a lighter weight fifth wheel and 15",
    Going to load range E.

Darsben...thanks for your suggestion. After I got back yesterday, two experienced fifth wheelers told me to get LT tires. I was going to post a question on that today, so you just answered it for me. This is unbelievable, but I actually owned this exact fiver 5 years ago, I was first new owner on it. At that time, when I weighed it, it was 8600 lbs fully loaded as live in it full time. The tire size is ST 225/75R15. Goodyear Marathons, China, dated 1012 are on 2 of the wheels now. Will replace all 4. Can I use the newest one, ST Gy, if I go with the LT?
    Any suggestion, brand?

POSE your question in the 5ver forum. AS I am not tire expert. Use an appropriate heading.
  • One blow out, 2 flat tires, one trip.

Bad/cheap/incorrect valve stems. The blow out was from the air leaking out and driving on it till the tire blew apart.

Replaced all valve stems with stainless steel valve stems.

  • Great to hear (read) this. I'm so glad I have it as well. Glad you made the trip without anymore mishaps and good luck with the new tires.
  • When the first tire blew it may have put an excessive load on the other tires on the same side. Just thinking
  • probably ST trailer tires on the 5ver. Suggest you think about an LT TIRE and figure out the actual weight of the rig when you are towing. Then you can buy the right load range tires.
