Great Service from GS Roadside Assistance

This is a long story but with a happy ending. If you don't want all the details, you can skip to the last paragraph.

:-) This past Saturday, I had a problem that required the use of my GS Roadside Assistance. They helped me solve my problem in a promoted, courteous, and very professional manner. I was at a campground getting ready to leave when I discovered that the main slide on my Keystone Raptor would not retract. It was stuck half way. I called the Roadside assistance number and was connected to a dispatcher who hooked me up with a mechanic. I also recieved a text message telling me who was coming and when he would be there. The mechanic came to my site about 45 min after I called. He showed up with very little in the way of tools, he even asked to borrow my multi-meter. He checked my fuses (which I had already done) and tried to retract slide manually (which I also had previously tried) after about 30 min he said that he didn't know what was wrong and that he was sorry. In fairness, he also stated that he wouldn't charge GS for the service call. I called the Roadside Assistance back and told them what happened. The new dispatcher said that she would find an RV tech if one was available on a Sat. She explained that most mobile techs only work Mon-Fri and that I might be stuck until Monday. But she called back and said that she found someone. When then set up a conference call between her, the RV tech and myself. When I explained my problem to the tech, he asked me to try the level-up system. It also was inoperative. He assured me that he could get me going again. He explained that he was on another call but would be to my location in about two hours. I also got a text message confirming his arrival and phone number. He showed up 90 min later. He was towing a trailer converted into a mobile repair shop. He was professional and all business. He had all the equipment needed and got right to work. In about 10 min he had isolated my hydraulic pump as the culprit. He removed the pump, took it into his shop and took it apart. He discovered that the pump motor brushes were stuck. He freed the brushes up reassembled everything and waited until I was satisfied that everything was working correctly. He explained to me that my warranty should cover the repair. He told me to contact Keystone on Monday. He went on to say that if Keystone denied my claim, I should call his wife at the office and she would go to Lippert and seek reimbursement from them for me. He was a credit to the profession of RV Mechanic. I will not post his name here due to restrictions on advertising. But if anyone needs the name of a great RV tech in the Birmingham, AL area pm me and I will get his name and number to you.

Bottom line: the GS Roadside Assistance folks went the extra mile and got me back on the road in a relatively timely manner on a Saturday. I am pleased with the service and the follow up. I will be recommending this service in the future.
