I found GoodSams/National General Insurance a great deal

As other have mentioned that they have noticed increases in their insurance carriers I did also with GEICO.
I have my cars thru them and had my motorhome added back in 2012.
The costs have sky rocketed the past few years and I was paying $1,100 a year for my 2012 gas motorhome.
I had 20k/40k/20k with $1,000 ded. That was a rip off.
No accidents, took the defensive driving course, own my motorhome.
BYE GEICO

I called National General sales guy and after giving him my info and emailed me a quote. I reviewed and asked for higher coverage and it cost me $550 a year.
$50k/$100k/$50k
$1,000 Deductible
Plus lots of other stuff like trip/vacation expense coverage, etc, etc, etc.

Well the bottom.
Switching to National General I saved $550 a year, with higher coverage than GEICO.

Oh I forgot to mention that if I do not travel and have my motorhome in storage for more than 30 days I call them and they deduct $35 for each month not in use but still have liability in case it get broken into or stolen.
GEICO didn't off that.

  • Well I just called NG ins. because of a rate increase and wished I didn't. I told them that I was the principle driver when the vehicle was in tow and they had the wife was the principal driver. After I told them that the rates went up $30.00 more and there reason was I'm three years older. Unbelievable

  • So, now we need to hear about the claims experience with them.

I can insure your vehicle for much less than NG, but I can tell you the claims side is going to be a nightmare for you. :)
  • I've had National General Insurance on my travel trailer since I bought it new in 2014. Recently I was up for renewal so I called my local agent to get some quotes with insurance companies that they work with. Most of the companies were a lot more money. One wouldn't insure travel trailers at all and one came in $30 cheaper than National General but with far less coverage. I stayed with National general and although I've never had a claim, I feel they offer the best bang for the buck.
  • I have had GS for years. But liability doesn't cover broken into or stolen.
Comprehensive is what covers those problems. :)
  • I have similar coverage and rates with NG, and have been pleased with it as well. However, I will add that I've yet to file any type of claim (and hope I never have to).
