Noel, it's possible just didn't want to take up the space. And from Franks response Good Sam would pay to have my rig towed to a shop. Seems it would be cheaper to change the tire.
Now don't go confusing the issue by being logical. :B - gfrankumExplorerNoel, it's possible just didn't want to take up the space. And from Franks response Good Sam would pay to have my rig towed to a shop. Seems it would be cheaper to change the tire.
- NoelExplorerHi Glen...is it possible for you to carry a mounted spare in an outside compartment.....do you have a pass-thru shelf? We crammed a mounted spare in our Dolphin.
- GSRoadsideAssisExplorergfrankum, thank you for your post. I have included an excerpt from the Good Sam Roadside Assistance Member Benefit Brochure.
Flat Tire Service: a service technician will replace a flat tire
with your inflated spare, or we’ll tow your vehicle to the nearest professional service center. On occasion and whenever possible,
we will make arrangements for the member to purchase a tire(s) for delivery to the disablement scene. In these cases Good Sam Roadside Assistance will pay for delivery of tire only, member is responsible for all additional costs including cost of tire(s), mounting, balancing, other parts or labor, tax and any other fees. Note: This benefit does not include seasonal tire changes. Member responsible for parts and labor.
I would be more than happy to contact you regarding your questions…please send me a private message with your Good Sam Roadside Assistance membership number and telephone and e-mail contact information. I am looking forward to speaking with you. Thank you, Frank - gfrankumExplorerI'm kinda waiting for Marcus to chime in here. It could be worse, was planning on replacing tires anyway and at least I'm not sitting on the side of the road.

I was on the understanding that they will change the tire, but that mounting the tire on the rim is at your cost. It makes no difference to me as I have a mounted spare but it would be good information to have. What say?:h:
You are correct. I had a tire on my 5th wheel that was going flat and I called Good Sam about repair of the tire. The only thing they would do is replace the tire with my spare. It would have been four hours or more before they would be able to get to me. I was at the intersection of I40 and Arizona 95. The truck shops there did not have the equipment to mount anything smaller than a truck tire. So I put on my spare and drove to Kingman and had the flat tire repaired at my cost.
As for the balance beads they work very well and anyone who has actually used the beads will confirm that the beads work. When beads are used they replace the valve stem with a filtered stem. - Not_a_ClueExplorer

Thanks, luckily I am at a campsite, and planning to replace all four on the rear anyway, just need to get it up to the tire dealer. Just didn't know if Good Sam PAYS for this.
You might want to check to see if they will PAY for the mounting of the tire. I know they will pay to replace a tire with a tire on a rim, but not sure if you might have to pay for the mounting of a tire. - powderman426ExplorerI was on the understanding that they will change the tire, but that mounting the tire on the rim is at your cost. - darsbenExplorer IIYes they will is short answer.
But the balancing is the biggest problem. The balancing will be by throwing a balancing bag of beads into the tire or a powder. If they use that, it could cause problems with your valve stem. With the bag of stuff until it finds the optimum balance your vehicle may not drive well specially if it happens to be a steer tire on your rig.
Another factor is that it MAY cause you to be delayed more than with a fully mounted spare. It is easier (specially in remote areas) to find someone to come change a tire than to CORRECTLY mount a tire and change it.
