I'm Confused

Today I had occasion to go to a CW in the Los Angeles area. I asked the young lady behind the counter what the difference was between my GS "Elite" card and my GS Lifetime Membership card. She didn't know. So she scanned both cards, and also noted that they had the same membership number. BOTH cards say that they expire on Dec. 31, 2015. However the back of my Lifetime card says that it's valid "thru lifetime".

So. What's the deal? Do I have a lifetime membership or not?

Thanks for your help.

  • This is what I received from the GS response team. It seems reasonable.

The Elite membership is not valid for Life. Elite is a membership tier (not a separate membership with a separate #). The system prints the expire date for your membership #, which is a Life membership that is valid for Life. You were upgraded to the Elite benefit level for 3 years.

The membership #s are purposefully the same. The Elite benefit level takes precedence until it expires 12/31/15. Life memberships do not expire so you have nothing to worry about there.

If for any reason, after 12/31/15, you have any issue we are here to get it resolved immediately. But, I assure you that will not be the case as a Life membership does not expire.

Hello ForestRiverTeach! Thank you very much for your question regarding your Elite benefits, for purchasing your RV from Camping World RV Sales and for being a Lifetime Good Sam Club member.

Since you were a Good Sam Life member prior to your RV purchase from Camping World, your Life membership will remain active for Life. Elite benefits are valid for three years from your RV purchase date. Therefore, if you purchased your RV in 2012 your Elite benefits will expire in 2015.

If you have any further questions please feel free to let us know.

    Have a wonderful night.

The problem I see is that both my elite membership and my lifetime membership have the same number. Your system can't differentiate between the two, so it's defaulting to the one that will expire at the end of the year.

I think I need to have different numbers for each card. That way your system will be able to tell each membership apart.

I've sent you a PM about this, but I think it might be helpful for others who might be in the same position as me to check their membership cards. If they've got the same number, they could have the same problem I'm having.

Thanks for the information. I don't know when I purchased my lifetime membership. And I haven't sent you my membership number yet. Nor do I have a contract number.

So. How can I confirm all of this? Do you still want me to PM you my membership number?

    Thanks.

Thanks. But that doesn't answer why my lifetime membership card expires on Dec. 31 of this year ...

I hope you life insurance is paid up past Dec. 31.
    Haha.
