In data bank?

You have no idea how many times people add an S to my last name or not spell my first name right.

It was only when my GS membership didn't show up, they ask if I was a GS member. If that information had been in the program as it was supposed to be, then the GS card would not even have been needed or even ask about.

A simple typographical error in either your name or your zip code by either Good Sam or the campground looking up your membership will cause your membership to not appear. Understanding what people are saying when spelling their name is not easy. B's sound like D's and T's and C's and G's. Some people have common names spelled uncommonly, Smith and Smyth for example. Then there are the people who mix up their zip code with their office zip code and their children's zip code etc. Finally you have fat fingered typists like myself and most of the rest of the free world to deal with. It should be simple, but it isn't.

Yep!! That could explain it, I have the letter "V" in my last name and it is quite often mistaken for a "B". Only 4 letters in my last name and I usually have to spell it out because apparently I can't pronounce it well enough for people to understand.

No problem with the discount at all, the CG was apologetic for having to ask for the card. I imagine they purchased that program to make the registration process easy for both them and the RVer. And when it causes an inconvience it not doing what its designed for. The frustration was on their part. I'm used to answering all the questions on the registration forms.

Speaking of cards, I had posted elsewhere about something I had read from a quarterly meeting or something from Good Sam where Marcus said they are working on getting membership cards with the magnetic stripe on the back. This will hopefully eliminate the need for a seperate card for the Flying J fuel program.

Perhaps if they had the card, they could then look it up by member number, since the name/zip code thing didn't work. Did the still give you the discount?

wbwood, This was our first experience with this as well. If I remember right, the only information I gave them was my name and zip. Everything they required was then provided by their program. It was when They ask if we were GS members that it didn't
show up. Maybe the administrator can enlighten us about the program they were using.

Good Sam member service is open 24/7 please call if a agent can help with a matter like this. We would be happy to verifiy membership with the park if needed. Or if able print out a temporary card from the Good Sam website.

Apparently this park did have that capability, and said we were not in it under our zip code. We had our card with us and could show membership, but it was the park that was puzzled as to the lack of us not being in the data bank.
