If you're happy with them (which you must be, since you have been with them for 9 years), why is auto renew jumping through hoops? Seems like switching companies is more hoops. You can always cancel, or as w4phj says, give them a card that expires before the year.
So, instead you'll go find someone else, that you obviously didn't want to do, just because of this?
Just seems like much to do about nothing....
