Free or cheap introductory offers are a common and successful marketing tool. You just happened to have received it accidentally due to some glitch. I don't think you should be offended.

Banks do the same thing. Offer perks and higher savings interest rates to NEW customers..long time existing customers don't get the same perks and are getting lower savings rates.

You need to join GS to control trash mail. If you are a member you can somewhat control it. If you drop your membership you will be flooded with trash because that is just what they do. :B

You may have multiple listings in their files. Example, I received two mailings of the new CW catalog. I had purchased from CW prior to joining GS so I received a mailing from that list and then received another from the GS list. An email or phone call will usually clear that up.

What business does not have a cost to acquire a new customer? Part of that cost to acquire a new customers is commonly "spent" by forgoing or rebating a portion of that new customer's revenue (if they paid full price) in the hopes that they will like the service and remain a full paying member. What difference does it make if Good Sam spends $100 marketing to that customers or spends $25 marketing and gives them $75 in "perks?" There are so many companies and industries that do this that I am surprised to even see it raised as an issue here.

Please also offer it as an email with a link to a PDF of the magazine. It is likely that I'll decline receiving it if my only option is a physical copy via US Mail.

The less mail there is in my private mailbox the happier I am.

Maybe I wasn't clear enough. There is an option in the communication preferences to receive a digital copy of the Highways magazine. There is no checkbox in the communication preferences to select digital editions of either Motorhome or Trailer life.

It just may be that my being a FTer puts me in the GS minority. I don't want a hard copy of anything. It does not matter if it is free or not. I still have to pay the postage to have it forwarded to me.

If the communication preferences had a checkbox option at the top for "all mailings via digital editions only" then I would not mind receiving emails for those products and services that I have little interest in - as the cost of WiFi is pennies in comparison to postage.

Update: I just found out about this link http://www.goodsamclub.com/magazinepreference/. Hopefully the Communication Preferences tab will be updated in the near future to reflect the link.
