4x4 Dodger - You have a right to be upset! Do you mind sharing if they provided a reason they are cancelling your RV insurance?
After researching this to refresh my memory on all the stuff with this insurance I called Natl General.
Six months ago I asked that they send me my policy by US Mail not online. (I wanted a mailed hard copy) and over two phone conversations I made two requests to have ALL renewal notices and other letters sent to my physical address. They agreed to do that.
Apparently they never made this change.
The reason for cancellation was NON PAYMENT. However it was the "NEW" policy they were cancelling??? (I pay the insurance in full, one payment.)
My original policy ended at midnight on May 10th.
At 3:38 AM on May 11th they sent me a cancellation notice by email for the "New" policy that was to run from May 11th to November 10th of 2015 for non payment.
This timing is all a bit crazy (it's all automated I am sure)
I cannot find any record where they sent me any renewal notice prior to this. Although they are claiming they sent an e mail on April 4th.
I clear my spam folder every morning first thing when I enter my email and it MAY have been in there but I see no reason for that as I got these three emails today just fine...
My insurance increased by $2...a price increase they said. Not enough to argue about.
This seems a very odd way to do business.
Anyway it seems that the hangup was the snail mail issue not being done. My guess is the email part was cancelled but the Mail was never started. But then that doesn't explain these three emails arriving same day same time. There is a glitch in this system somewhere.
Again it was my ultimate responsibility to pay it on time but I usually just wait until I get renewal notices and therefor just dont think about it.
So I have given them another chance and hopefully the snail mail will work this time. The Cust. Serv Rep says she fixed it. We shall see.
As my trailer was in storage and only a day or two passed it's not a big deal. But if something had happened to my trailer or if I had been on the road this could have been a disaster.
A good lesson all around. With this company you need to be more pro-active and not depend on them to send you timely information or notices on your policy.
