- AnonymousHi rockhillmanor,
We do not change anyone’s preferences unless requested. As noted above, if you don’t un-check the pre-checked box when signing up for an RV.net account you will automatically be signed up for all email communications from RV.net and affiliates.
Please update your email preferences in your RV.net account following the instructions in post above. Be sure to hit save. Then check them again tomorrow. If anything has changed please PM me immediately.
Sincerely,
Good Sam Club Team - wbwoodExplorerJust because when you log on there and see boxes checked, does not nevessarily mean that you are signed up for it. It could be as the Administrator posted above, that the boxes show up checked so that when you hit the send or submit button it will sign you up for those automatically. I went on my account and there are boxes checked that I did not check, but I do not receive the emails either.

My Preferences do not stay unchecked and yes, I click on "Submit Changes". Then I go back in to Preferences and they're unchecked. A few days later they are again checked. I just did it again....so frustrating. It's like they'll email you or send you tons of paper even though you uncheck that you don't want it.
Anyone else with this problem?
Yes!
Been on this forum forever. And yes I totally know it's for free which has nothing to do with the admin going into your personal preferences and changing them.
There is not one forum or website that I have used or know about that
goes into your "personal preferences" and CHANGES them. And that practice is directly related to GS taking over the forum not from the original RV net. - AnonymousWhen you sign up for an RV.net user name/log in, the last section just above the “Register” button is called “I Would Like to Receive Email About.” It has a box checked stating “Yes! I want to receive the RV.net newsletter and special offers from RV.net and its affiliates.”
1. “it’s affiliates” includes all related companies, some of which are: all Good Sam organizations, Camping World, Coast to Coast, Good Sam Media & Events (RV Shows), MotorHome and Trailer Life magazine, The Good Sam Rally, The Good Sam RV Travel Guide and Campground Directory.
2. Pre-checking this box is standard for most companies across the board. Companies want to have the opportunity to email you offers, newsletters, etc. It’s up to you whether you leave the box checked or un-check it.
If you DON’T un-check the box:
You will be opted in to emails from RV.net and all affiliates. You are then able to opt out/unsubscribe from emails from individual businesses. For example, maybe you’d like to receive Camping World Internet Specials, but not emails about RV shows. The individual check boxes allow you to select only the emails you wish to receive. You can unsubscribe by clicking My Forums - My Preferences - then scrolling down to find "Email Preferences."
If you unsubscribe from any or all emails, we want to be sure your preferences are saved correctly. This thread alerted us to an issue where the preference selections on RV.net are not being saved—there is an error with the functionality of the submit/save button. Please know that this is not purposeful as we were not aware of the issue. Our IT team is urgently working to have this resolved by tomorrow so your preferences can be saved.
If you DO un-check the box:
If you un-checked the “Yes! I want to receive the RV.net newsletter and special offers from RV.net and its affiliates” box before registering at RV.net, yet you’re receiving unwanted emails please let us know. Email webmaster@rv.net so we can be sure you’re opted out and resolve any potential issues with the RV.net sign up process.
Good Sam Club members:
Your email preferences can be updated at RV.net or GoodSamClub.com in the My Account section. As long as you’re using the same email address for both your RV.net and GoodSamClub.com sign in, your preferences will be updated in both places. Note that if you’ve provided us multiple email addresses, or if you’re using a different email address for your RV.net sign in and your GoodSamClub.com sign in, then you’ll need to set your preferences on both sites for each individual email address.
Sincerely,
Good Sam Club Team - UsualSuspectExplorerI rarely receive any emails from GS, can't remember the last time it has been so long. I logged into my GS Account online, and unchecked the boxes there. If they are not staying unchecked send one of the GS folks here a PM, or call them and have them do it for you.
- wbwoodExplorerFrom what I read on my forums and my preferences has nothing to do about receiving email from GS and it's affiliates. It had to do about receiving emails from the forums based on replies, private messages and etc. nothing else.
Now on your good Sam club account, under my account and then email preferences there are a lot of other boxes there. Most of them are checked on mine, but I do not reive emails. At least none I never signed up for. Often , when you are online, there will be a box that is automatically checked to receive notifications. If you click submit, save, send ok or whatever, it will put you in the system if you don't uncheck it. So you need to pay attention to that. I've seen it all over he Internet. - othertonkaExplorer

Just for fun I tried it, unchecked everything, hit submit changes and then went back in like you did, and guess what? everything was checked again. I guess I am now in for a lot of emails. Oh well - powderman426Explorer

Zippity do daw, that's what.....you can put up with a bit of advertising
There's no reason to put up with it. The first time an email from them comes in, just mark it as spam in gmail and you will never get anymore. - 2gypsies1Explorer IIIMy Preferences do not stay unchecked and yes, I click on "Submit Changes". - othertonkaExplorerGo to "my Forums" and then click on "My Preferences", then scroll down quite a bit to "E Mail preferences" and then unclick all the ones you don't want, then make sure you scroll all the way to the bottom and click on "Submit changes" DONE
