I found out about that "trailer exclusion" the hard way too, only in my case it was with AAA. In that case, the driver still took the trailer along, but I had to pay for it. Wasn't that an option in your case just now with Good Sam?
Also:
Was your only destination option the repair place, or would they have towed you to the KOA?
I'm asking all these questions because we recently switched to Good Sam, partly due to the (seemingly) broader choices allowed in those department.
