Parks

As we travel east we have found the C2C parks getting worse.
We are given the worst sites, have to pay for WIFI, 50 amp,
full hookup, etc. We also found we now have to pay a $10 resort fee
as a Premier Member.

We just left Bay View RV park in Rockport, Texas.
The Wifi was non existant except at the "hotspot".
The site we were given was so full of sand burrs, it was
impossible to be outdoors. There also were several hills of
fire ants. The office closed at noon the day we arrived
so we just moved to a different site and would deal with
the problem in the morning.

That night we went out for dinner, came back and found
the gate was closed. No lights in the c/g and did not have a
gate code. The roads were so rough and many large potholes.
My wife severely sprained her ankle on one of them.

We were told that the park was a member only park and they
ran it into the ground.
We are finding many parks signed up with C2C are run down.

We also find it is better to go with PA than with c2C as you
go east.

  • We've stayed at C2C parks in PA. NY. SC. NC(outerbanks) VA. OH. DE. just in the last 2 years. they were all great very clean very friendly.. there was 1 in VA that we probably wont go back to however while there we found 1 about 3 miles away that was a lot bigger and better.. there was still nothing wrong with where we stayed the other was just a lot better. you need to head farther EAST
  • The worst parks we encountered on our trip were all in TX. I think I brought home a whole ant colony from one park we stayed at in TX. Another C2C park in AL. wanted 13k for membership and I would not have paid a plug nickel to become a member there. Good Sam Enterprises either needs more inspectors or needs to up their standards for parks to be in the C2C network. I will say that the best C2C park we stayed at was Rushmore Shadows in Rapid City. Very well maintained and run.
  • All I was saying was that the C2C parks appear to be
getting worse the further east we go.
The rvparksreviews do not paint very pretty pictures
    of them.
We are heading to Florida and hoped for some nice parks.

We need to check the Good Sam book to see what the ratings
    are for the park.

As mentioned the number of C2C parks are dropping, the
    question is WHY?????
  • We had/used C2C for 7 yrs. FTng........each year less and less member parks, each year the number of run down parks increased, each year member parks added 'fees'.....granted C2C doesn't own any of the parks, they just have affiliate agreements.
But the private parks were not being maintained (2007-2008 economy hurt), parks sold/new ownerships ran them down.

When we encountered lousy parks we made notes and never used them again.
Hey for $10/night we stayed at worst places.........but for $10/night we stayed in some pretty nice places.
We had our own WiFi so never depended on any cgs.
Using PA helps but it has it's restrictions/limitations......and some pretty lousy cgs also.
