There is no magic wand. Break down at an odd hour in a remote location and you maybe out of luck... period.
Neither AAA, GSRA, Coachnet, Santa Claus or the Easter Bunny will be able to save you promptly.
Yes having a roadside assistance plan is a good idea, however I don't expect it to be effective 100% of the time in all situations.
The more remote you are and the odder the hour the less likely you are to get prompt service.
There is the human element involved. A tow truck operator maybe motivated to come quickly if he knows he's going to be paid $1000.00 or so on the spot.
I imagine they are less motivated to be paid a lesser amount via the roadside assistance plan 30 days later.
Sure you can complain, ask for a refund, pound on the desk or do whatever it takes to make yourself feel better afterwards. But getting a tow truck in the middle of nowhere, in the middle of the night will always be luck of the draw.
Did you say holiday weekend or late Sunday night? The task can get even tougher.
At the point the service call comes in the tow operator is in charge not the service provider
"Platinum RA 9 yr member not helped on a Sunday is the title"
Do we really think the tow operator is concerned about the plan type or longevity of the plan?
We wonder why GSRA sends out so much advertising, because the public believes all the marketing jargon and takes it all in hook line and sinker!
