While reimbursement is wonderful, it does nothing to change the fact GS actually caused more stress by letting them think they were covered only to leave the stranded and on their own to find a solution, which they did. There is no reason whatsoever GS couldn't have found the exact same tow truck the OP did.
Not to mention, how long did GS drag this out before saying "sorry, you're on your own"?
We are judged on our results, and this lack of results is completely unacceptable.
As mentioned above, you darn well know if Marcus had called in the same situation they would have found a truck - as obviously a truck could be, and was, found.
Completely unacceptable for this to have happened as it did.
As mentioned previously. ALL ROADSIDE assistance companies contract with INDEPENDENT towing companies. If they say NO then there is no way to force them.
Also the length of time IS NOT A FACTOR. If you have a list of twenty companies to call for service it will take time to go through the list. Then you may expand your area to a larger one to see if you can get someone to come. Again as the companies are independent they DO NOT have to come.
Yet somehow the OP was able to find a tow truck - strange how that worked.
There is no way to defend the inaction and excuses given.
How about this; just because they couldn't find one of their contracted agents find someone else - like the OP did. Apparently GS is reimbursing them anyway so it's not like they were saving money.
It's just a bad deal that obviously left a bad taste with the OP that could have been avoided.
Amazing what $1400 will get compared to a call from a service provider. :S
