July 27 we left home in N.C. Iowa, we got to the entrance to the Badlands N.P. in South Dakota and the engine in our motorhome suddenly died. I called GS for assistance and we were towed 70 miles to Rapid City to an RV service center. The mechanic there checked the computer and found nothing. He then found a blown fuse and test drove the motorhome. In the end he found nothing further and sent us on our way. Two days later we were about 10 miles south of Kalispell, Mt. and the fuse blew again, I replaced it and it continued to blow so I again called for roadside assistance. The operator was very helpful and arranged for a tow again but said I would have to pay for this tow because it was a pre existing condition. I complained that the service center they chose in Rapid City did not correct the problem and she said I would have to pay but I could apply for reimbursement. I just received the check in the mail for the second tow. I have nothing but praise for Good Sam Roadside assistance. The operators were very pleasant and helpful and kept us informed as to when the tow trucks would come as well as where we would be towed etc. The problem turned out to be the in tank fuel pump.Thank you Good Sam for the great service!Ed Osier

Curious as to the problem found causing the first incident and the problem found prompting the second tow........?

I've had great service from GS ERS, too.

It was the in tank fuel pump that caused the fuse to blow both times. The first time it was taken to an RV repair shop, the second time it was taken to a Chevrolet dealer. Cost to replace the fuel pump was $1665 but that fixed it and it ran good all the way home (approximately 1300 miles). The cost of no diagnosis at the first shop was $100. It was a difficult problem to diagnose as it would only occur after the RV was driven for an extended time and it started getting worse by the second time it quit. I am not mad at the first RV repair place as I think they did the best they were equipped to do. The second time I requested a Chevrolet shop because I felt they were better equipped to diagnose the problem.

Everyone asks how many bad calls are we never told about? Hummm, how many of us are ready to admit on a national forum that we screwed something up and did wrong? It is always easy to find the bad, evil, and indifference. What about all of the times that things went right? The times like someone really went out of their way to help when they were not required to? How many times did someone at one of the call centers stay after their tour of duty to help when someone else did not show up? How many times are they told something by a company and no one showed up? Might be a lot more to bad incidents that meets the eye.

When I purchased my cherokee 39db back in 2008 they gave me a free year of good sam. I used it a couple times and it is was definitely worth the price because it was free but when it came time to renew the next year I started looking around at other options. AAA was comparable but I ended up with Motor Club of AmericaMotor Club of America.

On the way to Junction City from the coast Monday in one of the worst rain storms that I have been in may Cat started to die. Thought is was fuel filter changed both of them but then it started to smoke real bad call Good Sam there in 30min. Just before he got there I seen that the air filter indicator was in the yellow all the way so we pulled the cover and both of us got a bath (full of water). He called Cat no filter in stock then he called Napa they had one. He had another drive go to Napa and pick it up installed it all good. The water off I-5 got into the air intake (a lot of water) dumb place to install an intake 5' off the road on the drivers side. All I can say, Good Sam is the best along with B C Towing out of Salem, Or.

I would add my $.02 for a positive post. Always good to hear when someone does something right. OP, you might consider notifying the tech shops involved to let them know of your sunny outcome. jmho.
