Quick Response to Tire Blowout

Last Thursday driving South on I-65 just North of Lafayette, IN I had my first tire blowout - rear inner passenger side.

I called for assistance and was professionally handled by a rep who took my information, asked me to hold while he checked who was available. Within 5 minutes he had located someone who would change my tire and would arrive within one hour.

About 45 minutes later the tire service truck arrived and after another 30 minutes we were back on the road.

A very good experience considering our situation. Have read many "horror" stories here about GS service but I have had nothing but great care.

  • I agree, Good Sam did good for us also after a blow out. 105 degrees, part way up a 5 pct. grade, 45 miles from town and a Saturday. He was onsite in a bit over an hour, changed to our spare and helped us back on the highway with his lights. Well worth the $25 dollar tip I gave him.

  • Unfortunately, when calling any roadside service for help, you are at the mercy of the person you answers your request. It really doesn't matter if it is Good Sam, Coach Net, AAA...or who ever.

However, I have found in the past that if I am connected to a person who is giving me ****, I will hang up and call again. I have yet to be connected to the same person again and normally, the 2nd call I will get someone who knows what to do with my problem.

You lucked out and got the right person on the first call.
  • close by service provider and not a busy day for them means fast response to your blowout. I am amazed that people think they are the only ones needing service at any given time. Luck has a lot to do with response time. Happy that you got quick service and that you reported it here. It seems all we read are the bad ones.
