This is just a curiosity type of question. If someone pays a bill with a credit card fully intending to dispute the charges with the credit card company, does that constitute any kind of fraud? I wonder if this kinda thing happens out there and if some companies get their backs up in advance fearing this kind of thing. Just curious.
If you receive a service or product and pay using a credit card it is difficult to dispute a charge. If you are charged for a service or product you did not receive then you have a good chance of winning a dispute.
There has to be more to this story. I would never give my credit card to a service provider that was sent out by Good Sam unless it was to pay for a tire or some parts for a repair. In this case, the OP says they did nothing so why did he give them their credit card.
I can easily answer that. I was in Orlando and had heart problems while traveling in the M/H. After being released from the hospital the Dr. told me it was best I did not drive home. So I called my son. He came dwon with his wife and they drove the M/H back to Georgia. My wife and I flew back.
I gave my son the Card to use for gas.
When the brakes failed on the coach I called GS. They had Orlando ERS call me. I told him the situation. I offered to give him my credit card info over the phone to cover repairs if needed. He clearly stated they do not take CC info over the phone. He told me, and confirmed via email, he would send me an invoice via US Mail to pay any charges if they repaired anything. I said OK
When the tech arrived at the coach he looked at it and said he couldn't repair it that night. It needed a whole new hydro-boost system installed. M/h has 23K miles on it. So my son started it and went to slowly move it out of the middle of a parking lot and HE HAD BRAKES. The tech told him he needed to be paid driving time. My son didn't know GS paid that so he handed him my credit card. The guy hammered it for $560.00 for travel time while GS paid him as well $240.00. So for driving out to my coach and doing nothing he got $800.00. He was at my coach for about 15 minutes.
Then I contacted the dispatcher at Orlando ERS when I got the email from Paypal that he charged my card. I emailed the dispatche and explained I did not authorize that payment for work not done. He emailed me back and said if I protested he would have me arrested and charges with a felony. YES< I HAVE THAT EMAIL and many more even worse.
GS paid the tech to drive out and back to his shop. I'm not suppose to pay him to drive back and forth as well.
Now, that's how he got my credit card information. MY BAD, but I still did not authorize it.
