Not disagreeing that an error has been made and an explanation is due to you and us. I do disagree with your calling this a lie. There are many reasons this could happen.
Stuff happens in life and especially in business. Using the word lie in this case is just not justified.
Keep in mind that all businesses are made up of people just like us and subject to all of the errors and foibles that make us human.
