rating of campgrounds

Hi Marcus;
I am sure you are aware that not all Good Sma Parks are created equal. There are some that do not deserve to be called Good Sam Parks. Is there any place where we can rate our stays at Good Sam Parks? I am thinking of a forum similiar to RV Park Reviews.

Regards;
Ray Walker

  • Its really hard for a review by a camper. People have different expectations.there are born complainers,people who want a resort spot for under $25 etc Then there are campers with easily met expectations.
    Good Sam or any one else can't change ratings on only one complaint,they can note it and when reviewed they can check.Just think how thick the book is, then figure out the staff needed to meet your objective. For RV Park REviews,I usually drop the top and bottom reviews and see if the middle averages out for a more honest review,unless their allhigh or low

    I've tried that over the years and my emails were never acknowledged and the ratings of the parks stayed the same so this way is not working.

    If I visit two parks with the identical ratings I can find obvious descreptancies in the rating system. So your 'raters' are not doing their jobs!
  • I look at rv park reviews as well and even have a thing where the latest reviews are on my main page of my site. A problem I see with "campers" giving a number rating is that there is no consistency in how it is done. Someone will give a low rating because there is no wifi, when there is no mention of wifi in the listings. I would much rather read what the people actually say about the place. I would like to see a system somewhat like eBay. Approve, disapprove and a place to give your synopsis. Make it member based to GS members only. Have a GS department that reviews and monitors these (sorta like Marcus' Rapid Response Team) and can step in when needed. Perhaps fix or correct some issues. Monitor when a GS member abuses it and can remove the feature from their account or suspend it for a period of time. Only one review per park per year or another given time, unless an issue develops. Maybe they can just send it directly to the GS team then.

  • rvparkreviews.com that is my go-to website when I am researching where to stay. Make sure you look at the older reviews, as they initially post the last 3 reviews for each campground, listed by city. I get the feeling sometimes cg owners pay people to post positive reviews...you can tell when there are a few recent glowing reviews and the rest of them are 1 or 2 star reviews. I pay attention to all of them.
  • Someone mentioned that KOA is now posting positive and negative reviews. Would be a nice feature to have added on to your online listing of parks. Maybe not necessarily a rating system, but possibly a place where people can post their reviews. At least people would have to explain what they liked or didn't like and not just throw a number on it for spite.
  • If you find a Good Sam CG that is not what it was represented as I would send an email to Marcus directly. GS does not sit down and read RVPark Reviews. If they got enough emails about one of their CG's and the conditions perhaps they would do something about it.
