This appears the OP was lost which had nothing to do with GS directions!

......and " maybe" it's not a good idea to drive into barriers, and wedge yourself in because a trip planner "tells you to go straight"! This may also apply to a waterway with no bridge, a woods fire, cliffs, lava flowing across the road, etc.
