I think maybe some of us owe the OP an apology. Looking more carefully at google maps street view, there is a section thru the mountains about halfway between Mora and Angel Fire that is definitely one lane with no turn outs. Certainly no room to turn a MH around, even with no toad. And if construction were going on in that area, then I can see that he could have well encountered what he described.
Have to keep in mind that google street view can be several years out of date. About 5 years ago I was standing outside when the google car came by. I looked a few weeks later and there I was standing there in google street view. And I am still in that picture today.
