I bet it is a cheesy, somewhat unethical ploy to get you to sign up for the service. "Good" Sam has, as previously posted, signed up members for a short introductory period, so technically you would be renewing. However, they never told the members they were enrolled in the service during the free introductory period. This type of business practice is shady, unethical, and disrespectful to the customer.
