Roadside Assistance Surprise/UPDATE

Today I called GS Roadside Assistance due to a blown tire on our Freightliner Hauler, at the time this happened our 5ver was on a private lot here in Yuma and we were about 10 blocks away, surprise, they would not help us out since we were not towing the 5ver at the time, wow I guess you better read the fine print, all I wanted is a tow to the a local tire shop, not a happy camper.

UPDATE: Received a PM last night from a gentleman named Frank with GS Road Service wanting my GS number and my contact info, received a phone call this morning as promised and Frank wanted to know all the details on what transpired with the phone call to GS, after letting him know the details he admitted that there was a error on there on there part and GS was to reimburse me for the road service I paid, GS will upgrade my plan to GS Platinum Plus for the remainder of the year for all my troubles, KUDOS to GS for stepping up to the plate and THANK YOU Frank...

OP ... Next time can you post your update as a reply rather than editing your initial response. People who read it for the first time will be confused. Secondly, those of us involved in the discussion are looking for new replies and not rereading the entire discussion over again.

    Sorry, your right, fixed now.....

  • Maybe you need to read it again. I have been a member of GS ERS for years and have used it twice on my "personal cars", a flat tire on one and they came out with one call no questions asked. One they mounted a tire and the other they towed it because my spare was flat.

They are a road side service like all the rest, only with added RV specific capabilities.
  • I understand it that if you have an inflated spare, that they will come change it for you. Or they will bring one out to you, have it mounted on your rim and changed on the truck. But the tire and mounting it on a rim will cost you. Really not sure about towing you. I don't understand why they wouldn't, but I guess they would lose more money on that type of deal. Of course they make money if they bring you a tire and etc.
  • Its my understanding that GSRA will change out your mounted spare for you at no cost. Mounting a tire, or delivery of a tire cost more. I didn't think they offer tows for a single flat as part of that service. Now if you had two flats... well, I was there late last year.
  • I ended up calling a tire shop, paid for a new one over the phone, then had to have an independent service guy pick up the tire, come out and change it, paid him for his services which is quite abit more than having the tire shop change it out in house...
  • Not sure if it has anything to do with it being a freightliner but all of my household vehicles are covered regardless of the camper being attached.

Just realized you were wanting a tow. Would they have brought you a tire and put it on? I think that's covered, although of course you would pay for the tire.

What if you backed under and hooked it up before you called ?

Wish I could of done that but we blew the sidewall out as mentioned 10 blocks away, all I wanted is a tow to the local tire shop...
