To opt out, login to you GS Account, click on "My Account" on the upper right hand side, then click the + mark next to your email address. Uncheck what you don't want and the mailings will stop, mine did.
Easy to say. BUT if you subscribe to other GS services and choose NOT to join the GS 'Club' you can't do that.
