I logged into my GS Account at the beginning of last year and unchecked all the boxes. I no longer get them, took all of 4 minutes tops.
To opt out, login to you GS Account, click on "My Account" on the upper right hand side, then click the + mark next to your email address. Uncheck what you don't want and the mailings will stop, mine did.
Yep works great and I don't get any GS mail that I opted out of.
