As far as:
I generally find I rarely take the time to do this if it means I need to take the picture... transfer the picture to my computer. resize the picture (even my android phone takes pics that are WAY to big to post), upload it to a hosting site, and then and only then write my thread and link to the hosted pics.
You don't have to transfer the picture from your android phone to your computer and then upload it to a hosting site. You can upload it from your phone directly to a hosting site like photobucket (and there are others). Photobucket has a app that you can use to do this. If you are accessing the forum from your phone and need to post the picture, then you go to the picture on teh app and clikc the "i" to the bottom of it will give you 4 link options (Email/IM, Direct, HTML, and IMG). Use(copy) the direct one and then on your forum posting click on the image post icon as normal. Put that link where it needs to go, set the width to 640 by typing it in the box provided and your done. If you get on the forum via your computer, then its the same process but you pull up the photobucket website and copy the correct link there and paste as described above.
As far as your costs for your sites, you are more than likely not running on a dedicated server either for that price. I too use Godaddy for my website and for unlimited, it's $14.99/month. But I don't think they use a service as such. They (Affinity) run many many forums and websites and imagine they deal either on their own or with a high end service. The fact that they have several access points to the same forum (RV.net, Goodsamclub.com, woodalls.com, motorhome.com) throws in a little curveball. I'm not IT by any means, but I have been around and have had forums and websites for years. I used to code my own HTML when it was cool to do so.
However, there were supposed to be some big changes to the forum I though this year, but have not seen those yet. So maybe your wish will come true. As others have said. It's simple to use as it is. People who don't access the internet much as it is have trouble with posting as it is. Adding more features to it for a crowd that has a good bit of not so internet savy people, will cause even more confusion and headaches.
