Service at it's best??????

Mr. Lemonis,

I have my 2nd, unfortunate and unpleasant occasion to use Good Sams Roadside Assistance in the 7 years I have been a member.

First of all. On both occasions it like was getting a root canal to get the (in This case all 4) representatives to listen and add data into the computer. All 4 Reps asked for exactly the same information i.e.; name, address, member #’7, etc. I was on the phone at least 2 hours retelling everything that is in my profile to people that did not even add that data to the system. I asked the last 3 reps about my information that should already be in the system and the had no answer.

The best question of all “ARE YOU TRAVELING?” WHAT!!!. I am in a RV in Wyoming. My profile tells you I live in Florida. Of course I’m traveling.

Next. I told them all I was stalled in the middle of a truck stop in between several big rigs that could not get out because I was in their way, I was told they couldn’t get anyone until tomorrow (Monday 7/10/2017). Wrong answer. I need someone now. I found a nice truck driver that had some straps and he pulled me out of the middle of the lot and into a parking spot. A nice trucker, not a Good Sams roadside assistance member that I pay for.

Now that I made it to a parking place before getting shot by a not so nice trucker your rep said I would have to wait again until Monday To be towed to the dealer. So here I sit in a motel that cost me $119.00 for the night on top of paying for road side service that is virtually non-existent. My 5th wheel and truck are in a truck stop for now. I’m not sure if it or any part of it will be there in the morning. They also told me they would only tow the truck, not the 5th wheel because “the 5th wheel is in a safe place”. My question was “how do you know that, do you live here and can verify it’s a safe place?”

I thought you might like to know how your service has gone down the toilet.

BUT WAIT!!!!!!!! It’s not over.

I was just getting ready to send this email when I received a phone from Roadside Assistance. It was a recording that my service call was competed and if there were any questions call back.. Made my day. No service schedules until tomorrow but it has already been completed. After calling back I was informed That it was the truck that was supposed to tow me from the middle of the parking lot to a parking space that was cancelled.

Unhappy Customer,
  • I apologize for your recent experience with Good Sam Roadside. If you could PM me with your membership information so that I can further investigate. I would appreciate it.

    Thank you

    Rashad Hunter
Manager of Operations, Good Sam Roadside
  • Once again, Good Sam roadside service fails miserably.

Take note everyone who thinks Good Sam is on your side.
  • Update.

I received a reply from Rashad Hunter from the corporate office. He took care of everything. There is still a bit of a problem with the venders they us at different locations. It's hard to control the situation when the people don't work for you. I waited 4 hours for a wrecker after they said they were on their way. Mr. Hunter called a different wrecker company and they were there in 20 minutes.

My 5th wheel was towed to a campground and my truck.was towed to to local Dodge Dealer. Service is in progress and I should be on the road by tomorrow.

Thank you, Mr. Hunter and the rest of your staff. I hope the rest of my trip goes better.

The only other issue was there was no tow service on Sunday so we had to pay for a hotel room. Even though the Good Sam Roadside Reps say you are in a safe place they haven't got a clue where you are. We were fortunate that no damage or break in happened at the truck stop over night.
  • Thank you for the follow up. This is part of what we needed to hear, but I would like it better if we knew where the actual failure was and what was done to prevent it in the future? As a (prospective) GS roadside customer, I would like to be able to separate the wheat from the chaff and have a better idea of how much of this forum are actual failures as opposed to whiners not getting their way or not getting something for nothing.

Curious. Why did you have to stay in a hotel? Why not stay in your 5th wheel?

From reading the OP, I would guess that as he was stuck at a Truck Stop and most likely did not have a Generator it was to hot to stay in the Fifth Wheel.
  • I have used the Roadside Service twice for my car and am pleased with the results.
  • You don’t sound like a fun person to camp with, jj, since I’m not into drama.
  • Sounds like you finally received the service that you paid for .and it only took about two or three days to achieve it .not bad.
