Sorry we can't help you

I have been a Good Sam Roadside Assistance member for 4 years. I broke down last night at 6pm. Called them up. The rep said sorry, we have no providers who can help. Try calling back in the morning. We may have someone available then. Really?!?! I was in a large metro area (3 million people) with no shortage of tow trucks. I called back shortly after and the customer service rep didn't seem too surprised. Said I should hire my own tow truck and send in a claim and try to get reimbursed.

Called back the next morning and they sent the tow truck to the wrong address -- an address I have never heard of.

16 hours and still no tow truck.

I pay Good Sam for one thing -- to help me when I am broken down. They failed miserably. I will be signing up for AAA today.

  • Personally, after all the experiences written here and elsewhere, I have decided that the solution is to spend an extra $100-$150 and get a second service. At some point, one WILL fail you. With two services, you can get help with the other when the first fails.

I had AAA and GS before. When GS failed, I was able to contact AAA and get the help. Now I have AAA and CoachNet. If one fails, I will contact the other and get help. GS and Coachnet work similarly - they have to find someone to work on your rig before you get a tow. AAA will tow you but you have to tell them where to take you. Between the two types, you'll be pretty much covered in any circumstance. With just one, you'll find times when the one you have doesn't help.

Please reconsider AAA I understand you leaving GSRA as they did you a disservice. But AAA coverage is dependent on the region you are in. Some areas do not even have an RV option. Yours does but traveling out of your area could be problematic for service.
Please look at coach-net or FMCA (Family Motor coach Ass.)
Please let us know what Good Sam tells you privately
  • Thank you filiault68 for your post. I apologize for the failure to secure service in your time of need.

Can you please send me a private message with your best contact phone number? I would like to understand in more detail and investigate what happened in order to correct.

    Thanks in advance.
