Southern California To Brentwood TN trip

Hello all -
I have to relocate for work to Brentwood TN sometime mid June. I will have to take my rig (34' gas class A) from Riverside CA to Brentwood TN, towing my Toyota Tacoma. I don't know if I should take I-40, or I-10. My concerns are:
1. Stiff grade
2. Safe campgrounds along the way

Anyone have done this, please advice. Thank you in advance!

    Hello Dave in TN,

Thank you for your warm welcome. So my guess is you are Williamson resident?

I have a question about the RV storage. Can I park the RV at my resident if the drive way is large enough? I am looking for county ordinance regarding this issue, but did not find any luck.

Is there any Williamson ordinance on RV parking? If RV storage is required, you have any recommendation?

    Again Thank you.

Most of the restrictions on RV parking around here are HOA driven. If you are in Williamson county (outside cities of Brentwood and Franklin) and not in HOA, you are likely fine to park anywhere on your property. City of Franklin has some restrictions even without HOA.

There are plenty of storage places around here with RV parking, so a lot will depend on where you live. I am partial to a nice locally owned place in Franklin called Fairground Street Storage....very nice gentleman owns it and is on premises every day. But, if I were you, I'd be looking for a place to live without an HOA or city restrictions to keep it at your house.
  • When did this forum change from C2C resorts
to a forum of travelling coat to coast?
  • I imagine some neighborhoods might have an ordinance against it. I'm in Brentwood and park my 26' trailer in the backyard. Yard is a little over an acre. I've got plenty of trees and its not very noticeable. I've seen others parked in driveways also. I guess it would depend on neighborhood rules and yard size. And you'll love it here!

  • Thank you all for your advises! So far, I-40 got the votes. I will look more into the campgrounds plan accordingly.

What bad about going through Dallas, I am curious?

I don't have advice on the trip, but just wanted to say "Welcome" to Williamson County! You'll love it here.
  • I-40 might as well follow close to the Mother Road (Route 66)

Lots to see along the way...here's a good website http://www.historic66.com/

Many of the sights are right on I-40 or just a short side trip.
  • We prefer I-40. Hate going through Dallas.
possible stops: OK RV Park in Holbrook AZ. Not fancy but good level pull thrus.
KOA in Tucumcari NM or Oasis RV Park in Amarillo TX.
New RV Park now open Mustang Run RV Park in Oklahoma City OK a bit pricey for overnight. Another option is Roadrunner RV Park.
In Sallisaw OK there is a KOA.
In Little Rock, we like Maumelle Corps of Engineers Park. a few miles off I-40 but worth it.
In West Memphis AR, Tom Sawyer's Mississippi RV Park. Worth a stop.

I'd do the 10 to Dallas, 30 to Nashville.
  • I have never had any problems with grades or campgrounds on I-40. JMO
