Tell Me Why...

Yes, tell me why I shouldn't cancel my GS Platinum Roadside Service. A couple of years ago we had an emergency with a tire smoking heavily. Luckily we were in front of Pecan Point RV Park when we noticed it and were able to pull in. Husband called GS Roadside Service and they said they would get back with us, I believe in half an hour. After an hour or so, called back and guess what. They had no record of us ever calling. It seems the guy who took the call didn't bother to pass on that we were stranded and left work. We had to stay overnight before anyone got out to take care of the problem.

About a week or so ago, husband had been hiking in the middle of a state park. When he got back to the truck, it wouldn't start due to a dead battery. He called GS Roadside Service and was told they would contact someone. Yes, a good time later, we got a call from someone saying they would be coming to give a jump. I can't remember where they were located, but I know there are tow services much, much closer. Anyway, the man called back and said he would be coming, but his wife had some shopping she had to do first. What! After two hours with no one there, somehow someone happened upon the remote area my husband was in and was able to give him a jump. The two company still wasn't there.

Last night my husband headed out to an RV repair shop down on the Indiana/Kentucky line to have the Hydra-Hot in our unit serviced. He was between Edinburg, In and Columbus, In when he started smelling smoke. Luckily, he was near a rest area and pulled in. One tire very, very hot and smoking and another pretty warm. I believe this was around nine or ten in the evening. Call our trusty GSRS. No call back as was told so husband called them back. Gee, no one had any record of his call. In fact, I think they said their computers went down and they didn't even have any record of our account. Nope, by eleven they couldn't find a towing service to help us. Their suggestions were that he make his own arrangements or call 911 and the police would get it towed for us then we could send the bill into GSRS and they would take into consideration paying it. They then said they would call back in the morning after they found someone and give the husband about an hour's notice before they got there. Guess what, I called husband a little before noon and he said he did get a call telling him someone should be there around two in the afternoon.

Now tell me why to keep GSRS? If I'm stranded, I'm supposed to make my own arrangements or call 911 and expect the police to arrange for towing, then send the bill to GSRS and they will take it under consideration it. I think not! That's what we're paying GSRS to do.

It's 2 p.m. and no word on whether a tow vehicle has gotten there. Thank God he wasn't stranded on the side of the highway where a vehicle could have sideswiped him or in a really bad area.

I think we're looking for another roadside service.
