Tire replaced after blowout

On a return trip from California to Oregon we sustained a blowout on a rear inside tire. We called GS Roadside assistance and were assisted by Transit Pro tire service. Within two hours we had what we thought was a new Goodyear tire mounted and ready to go.The cost was shocking but we were stranded and had little choice but to accept the charges. The total cost was $1125.34. The price of the tire alone was $782.08. After reading several articles in RV related publications I learned one should always check the DOT date when purchasing a tire. When I checked the tire provided by the GS contractor who mounted my tire I was shocked to find that the DOT date was 2915. This indicates that the tire I paid so much for was actually two years old at the time of service. Not only was I taken advantage of on the price I now had a two year old tire going forward. My best advise is: Do not call Transit Pro through GS if you experience a blowout because you will be charged the highest possible price and probably sold a tire that is anything but manufactured currently. Be forewarned and carry a spare as well.

  • That is theft, plain and simple. Good Sam should refund your money entirely. They are doing business with thieves. But I am not surprised. It is Good Sam. If they have any scruples left whatsoever, they will refund your money, remove them from their providers, and come on here and tell us that. I am not hopeful.

  • Welcome to the forum.
This is why most that are on here advise that you always have a spare even unmounted. The contractor is free to charge what he wants and GSRA has no control. But what were the other $400.00 of charges for?
