Towing overage?

We have good sam towing. We just broke down 5 miles from Seward Alaska. We limped in (engine limp mode). We got a local guy to scan the engine code and called the closest chevy dealer in anchorage. Bad news is we need to be towed to anchorage to get the engine fixed.

Our power train is still under warranty but good sam said they will not tow us to the dealer but the closest repair facility even if they are un authorized for warranty repairs.

If we take it to the closest our warranty would be voided.

I cannot understand the logic. Pay $1,000,s to some repair shop and lose our warranty or pay for my own tow?

This really makes no sense.

Still stuck in Seward.

  • Huh? Your power train is under warranty but a failure of that power train, which would require towing, doesn't kick in the method to get it repaired. Weird

Doesn't your normal vehicle insurance cover towing to an authorized repair facility?

Good Sam towing coverage covers you for a tow to the nearest GS authorized repair facility. They don't know nor care anything about your warranty unless it gets them out of paying (as it should be with a warranty).

Why wouldn't your Chevy warranty cover the tow?

These super c,s are a little unusual. Our Jayco warranty is expired. We had a delayed warranty on the chassis which has expired however we are still under the power train warranty. The chevy towing expired almost three years ago.
