Trying to reunite lost cat with RV owner

Hello all,
I volunteer with Community Cat Outreach, a group that traps and spays/neuters feral cats. We recently trapped a cat at the Travel Inn RV Park in Elma, WA that belonged to a couple who had been camping there in a RV 2-3 years ago. They had spent a year looking for the cat and trying to catch her with no luck. Unfortunately, the cat is not microchipped and the park no longer has the flier the couple left behind. We are making an effort to try to reunify this cat with her owners, who we know are RV owners and dearly loved her.
Any help you could give us in getting the information out is greatly appreciated! The cat is very sweet, but extremely shy and scared. We want to get her back home.
We know the family owns a RV and lives in WA. If anyone has any suggestions on how to best get this info out, please let me know. I am not a RV owner and trying to find my way.
Thank you all so much,
Lisa Bennett

  • Perhaps the owners left their contact information with local veterinarians and any nearby shelters? Maybe that could be tracked down by the dates.
  • We had thought about Craigslist and may post there this week.
I asked the moderator to please move this thread a few days ago-no response. I used the notify moderator link and sent a note. Is there some other way to request to have it moved? Thanks!
  • How about posting in the lost & found section and pet section on craigslist for the area in Washington where you think they may live.

I also suggest you ask the moderator to move this to the pet thread.
  • Thank you, Francesca! Rainydove, we had hoped so, but there seems to be no record of this couple in regards to the lost cat. According to one of the ladies who lives at the campground, the couple is thought to be from the Seattle area and their son lived in Montesano at the time. It was anywhere from 2-3 years ago. DougE, absolutely!!! If she had a chip, she would already be home! Thank you all for the support, sharing and input.
  • Another good example of why you should chip your pet, even the indoor ones!
  • Doesn't the RV Park have the couple's information on file, from when they were camped there? Most computerized systems go back a ways.
  • She's a beauty! I'm not on Facebook, but will spread the word where I can...

    Suggestion:

You might ask the Moderator to move this whole discussion over to the "RVing with Pets" section...lots of animal loving RVers follow that part of the forums, and some have been around long enough that this might ring a bell..

You can contact the Moderator by clicking on "notify Moderator" at the top right of any post.

  • I do have a picture, I could not figure out how to post it here...any tips?
From what we were told, several people recognized the cat from flyers that had been posted for the year the couple were looking. Until we find the couple, we have no way to know for sure this is their cat, but we believe it is. Before we place her up for adoption, we want to exhaust every option to try to find her original family. She is a really sweet cat and we were told by several people at the park that her owners were heartbroken when they lost her...if only she had a microchip.
I will post on the Chewelah page as suggested. Thank you both for your help.

  • I hope this will help. If you have access to Facebook, type in lost pets and Chewelah, Washington will popup and you can post a lost pet there. Its amazing what facebook can do, please give it a try, you never know.
    Thank you for caring.
  • Wow-

How can you tell that it's the right cat three years later? And is there a picture we can spread around?
