Unhappy with Good Sam/National General Insurance

We are consolidating all our home, auto and RV insurance with a local agent.

I called National to cancel the auto-renewal.

I was unpleasantly surprised to learn that cancelling the RV insurance has a cancellation fee. So be it, but.....

This fee is necessary for what reason (other than more $$$ in the insurance company's pocket)?

Left me with a bad impression, not due to the $$ but due to your policies.

I will now go out of my way to avoid anything to do with Good Sam and Camping World.

You have lost us.

  • Many companies give a discount to get clients to use auto renewal. Naturally if you drop auto renew they then charge you.
  • It seems to me that if you cancell an AUTO RENEW, your not cancelling before the end of the contract period.
  • Tough crowd :-)

All I wanted to do is cancel my auto renewal.

Go online to sign up for insurance? No problem.

Go online to cancel auto renewal? No way.
  • I am guessing you did not read the fine print when signing up for it.
  • Not uncommon at all for businesses to charge a cancellation fee if you cancel before your agreed length of term. If you would have let the policy run it's course and then chosen not to renew, you most likely would not have been given any grief. But, that's the way it is. Try canceling your cell phone to go to another service provider, or try canceling a club membership early, or try canceling a road side service, or Direct TV, or Dish TV, and wham! Cancelation fees are as costly as just keeping the subscription, or whatever, and letting it run its course.

It's their way to keep you from willie-nillie flipping on them ... they all do it.

Have you ever tried cancelling a campground reservation? See what I mean?

You mean "Fire Arms World" ?

I visited my CW store last week.

As reported here previously, they are converting at least half of the floor space to camping/fishing/guns.

I have come to a similar conclusion.....for several different reasons.
