Very good experence

Today, on I95 in Maine our F-350 with camper in tow, ran off the road for reasons I won't go into. We ended up in a ditch, in the mud, with no hope of driving out. Called roadside assistance and, long story short, a tow truck was on the scene and we were expertly winched out with no damage to either the truck or the camper. Total down time was less almost exactly 1 1/2 hours.

The GS operator was great and the tow driver knew what he was doing.

Thanks, Good Sam!! We couldn't be happier!!

  • Thanks for sharing. We have had good and not-so-good experiences but are still very satisfied with our GS assistance. A lot depends on the local contractors who actually provide the service and in some places there isn't much selection.

Yes, it's nice to read a success story. I've also had excellent experiences with GS roadside assistance. I would imagine that most people who have positive experiences don't post them on the forum. Only the negative experiences raise the ire of the poster enough to want to let it out on a forum.

X2 We have had two occasions to use GSRA. Both times a good thing was made out of a bad thing. My suspicion is that most folks' interactions with GSRA are positive, but it can sure rankle you when one of them goes south. Problem is, those incidents always seem to snowball from a little glitch into a catastrophe.

  • Great to hear it worked the way it is supposed to work for us 100 % of the time. But we all know each call is different, different location, different towing service, different cause.
  • I believe it was last year that I sunk my truck and travel trailer to the axles in my yard. Good Sam had one of the premiere towing services in my area come out and winch me about 180' to the street. They first sent a standard tow truck which was too light for the job. Then they sent another massive truck used for winching and towing full concrete trucks. It didn't cost me a dime and it was all done within about 90 minutes.

I have no idea what that would have cost me, but I'm sure it wouldn't have been cheap. I was very impressed with the way that Good Sam handled it and that they hired one of the best tow companies around.

  • Its good to hear the occasional good report here. But lets keep in mind that this is the way it's supposed to work for everyone.
  • Thanks for sharing your experience. My factory provided tow service expires next month and I'm going to sign up somewhere. The peace of mind is worth it to me. I am set up to change my own tires, but there will be times I just don't want to do it and other issues as well.
