Very poor service

My wife got flat on 495 south in Massachusetts. I was 2 hours away but I called at 6:30 pm because my wife forgot her card. They texted me saying the tow truck would be there about 8 pm. I get an automated phone call saying the repair was done or in progress but ono ne was there. I spoke to another person and they tell me that the truck will be there in 15 minutes. I get another auto call telling me it is fixed or being fixed. Once again no one was there. I then get a call from he driver asking me where she was I told him mile marker 20.8. Small problem he is at exit 20. He says he will call me back. Never heard from him again. Good Sam tried calling them to find out when they would get there and they kept getting an answering machine. They tried to get someone else to help her and could not get anyone. They did call the state police for her. I left work to go take help her. After I drove an hour my wife called and told me the trooper changed her tire. She finally got back on the road at 10:15 pm. So she was on the side of the highway for basically four hours, multiple calls and GS could not get anyone to respond. I will be joining AAA, I guess you get what you pay for. I personally do not know of anyone that has had problems with AAA nor did I when I belonged and needed them once. GS tried (or at least it looked like it) but they or who they contract with did not come through. The towing services they contract with are an extension of GS and they did not come through.

  • I've heard from reputable repair shops that they do NOT want to be on GS contractors list for ER because they don't pay these shops promptly after the call is made and 1/2 the time GS disputes the charges and the repair/tow shop gets burned.

So that leaves the less reputable shops that go on the GS contractors list for the sole purpose of just getting more business.

I was just going to ask.. what does this incredibly lousy service cost?
  • I recently had a flat on my toad in Moab. Called AAA and had the spare put on - all within 45 minutes.
  • I would be livid too if that was my wife. Absolutely no excuse could hold water with me. Glad the trooper was able to provide aid!
