So my experience with Good Sam hasn't been so good. My membership card has yet to work at ANY Flying J/Pilot to get the discount (every few cents help you know)...I wrote in asking about this via email on the "contact us" area and never heard back. Then when my truck blew the transmission they were less than helpful. My husband and I were able to limp the truck and trailer into a Chevy dealership in Topeka, KS. The dealership said drop the trailer and we will get it in for a diagnostic...ok, we did that (of course the trailer was dropped in the only big enough space there was which was to the far right of the dealerships driveway where it could be driven or backed into by anyone going to quickly or not paying attention. Not a safe place to be.) We got the news that a new tranny was in order, great a $3,500+ expense we were not expecting...but hey we have our Good Sam Roadside Assistance and it says they will tow the trailer to the nearest safe place for it to be right? NOT. SO. MUCH. The rude young man on the phone was downright snotty with both me and my husband. My husband handed our cell phone to the Service Manager who told him that the trailer had to be moved off the lot. The representative then called back and asked for the General Manager of the dealership and the GM trying to be helpful (and not knowing that it was a Travel Trailer that we would be living in) said the trailer could stay where it was. Because the GM said that it could stay (when he thought it was a car hauler and not a travel trailer) the Good Sam folks said they could set up a tow but we would have to pay for it and it would not be covered in any way. 1)The fact that the condescending Good Sam rep went out of his way to call back and chase down an answer that would allow them to NOT fulfill the membership benefits obligation is down right disgusting. 2)The dealership, after realizing what had happened (after we asked where we would be drawing power and dumping the black/grey tanks) found one of their fleet trucks and took our trailer the 5 miles to the campground. That is GOOD Customer Service, something that GSRA knows nothing about. 3) I am appalled by the horrible service, the sleezy methods used and the overall state of the Good Sam membership. Of everything I have learned since joining the RV lifestyle this has been the hardest to take. I thought GSRA was a reputable company, now I'm thinking I was very wrong and I'm looking for some decent alternatives. :M
