We got our MH today. As far as I know the repair are all done, kind of. The lights were fixed. They said the ice maker was replaced but has yet to produce the first cube. Several basement doors are not closing properly and the alignment on the doors is not good. When I look at the gaps between the doors, several are too big and several are tight at the top and loose at the bottom. In other words the seams between the doors taper. One door closes past the adjacent door. The tech told us that was just the best they could do. Unsatisfactory.
The Traveler dish was installed and we have TV so A+ on that.
I did not have a single in depth encounter with any employee who spoke well of the dealer. The tech today told us that the quality of MHs was terrible overall. They hide behind the corporate organization with regard to who is responsible for what. You simply have to talk to the guy that wears the proper hat. I heard "it's not my area" more times than I can count. The place is a cluster----. The tech asked me if we were told that our $5000 Good Sam warranty was represented as bumper to bumper. I said yes. He said good luck with that because there are lots of things that aren't covered. I can't know if that's a fact until I try to get repairs done.
I do know that there is a difference in an insurance claim and a warranty claim.
There is a tremendous amount of buck passing. The problem with CW is systemic. I will never go back to this dealer. Several people on the forum have suggested mobile mechanics and to ask around parks to find a good one. The Atlanta shop I found is a mom and pop place and the rep told me that they love doing Good Sam warranty work and that the warranty is good so we'll just see.
The RV is in the driveway which definitely has reduced our stress. I do not know if basement door alignment and poor latching will be a problem. If my car doors looked like this I would walk away from the deal. But we want to travel so we're stuck.
My only similar experience was buying a 35 food Searay boat. Upon delivery there were 3 techs on our boat for a week tweaking everything. They were professional and genuinely concerned with the quality of the work they did. My experience wit this RV was just the opposite. 10 different people worked on it and we never saw the same guy twice. Returning phone calls is not in their wheelhouse. It simply doesn't happen.
I'm crossing my fingers that we've made a good purchase.
We will take it to a service only shop that I found to finish whatever else needs fixing.
We have our bus. We'll make road trips out of service calls. So be it.
In fairness, the fit and finish throughout is excellent except for the basement doors so far. The tech could not get a signal on the dish. I got it home and got it activated and the picture is excellent.
I really had no other local option to buy the RV we wanted. It's a shame that CW is not well thought of among MH and fivers. But if the Good Sam warranty works as advertised, we will be okay. I do not know if the Ella talked to anyone. They did not mention it.
I do not want to bad mouth CW any more. I am not alone in my opinion of CW. I won't go back. I hope that the other service center works out. Fingers crossed.
Ice maker that they said they replaced has yet to make the first cube, The freezer temp was 5 degrees so it should be working. I turned the refer off and will restart it tomorrow and try again.
So the jury is out. My wife wants to do this. She was my deck hand for 10 years so I owe it o her to try.
I do want to say that this is the best forum I've ever seen for getting good advice and answers to my questions. I can learn most of what I need right here. If our new service center lives up to it's 36 excellent reviews and Good Sam doesn't bomb me with fine print on the warranty we should be okay.
