Will my Roadside Assistance cover a tow truck call to get me out of a ditch? I just canceled my coverage through my auto insurance that would cover a tow truck call if i were stuck. I did not want to pay for duplicate coverage. Now with winter weather in the area I'm concerned that going with Roadside Assistance only might have been a mistake. So the question is will Roadside Assistance cover the cost of a wrecker to get me back on the road if I am not disabled due to a breakdown but i am stuck on the side of the road?

Not a member but pretty hard to NOT define getting out of a ditch as "assistance".

I believe (and hope) so..... There are limitations for "off-road area" which could fall into this category per page 16 of the latest Platinum Brochure.It used to be you had to be WAY off a paved or hard-pack road before service would be denied.I'm sure Zach or someone will chime in with the latest info.

A few years ago we had family visiting & parked their MH on private property when we got a lot of rain & got stuck pulling out of our yard. Called Good Sam Roadside Assistance & was told because they weren't parked in a commercial campground they wouldn't pay for the tow. Oh did I say they didn't renew their subscription with Good Sam Roadside Assistance after that.

Thank you for the post TNRIVERSIDE. If you are traveling down the road and become disabled due to sliding off of the road or take a turn to sharply and end up in a ditch or embankment then you would be eligible for winch-out services. Our RV programs provide 2 hours of "winching" as described in the member benefit brochures. As mentioned you would need to be traveling on an eligible road as described in our benefit brochures. Thank you for the post also Emptypockets. It sounds like something may have gotten lost in translation on this. Members are eligible for the same winching services as listed above so long as they are parked in a designated RV parking area. Generally campgrounds will provide a cement pad, graded gravel area or in the case of state and national parks it may be a graded dirt area. In addition Rallies and large RV gatherings may have grassy areas designated for parking during the event. In addition we will provide service for vehicles parked on private property owned by the member. We realize that sometimes members will park their RVs beside their house, driveway or potentially an out-building/barn for storage purposes. Let me answer the question before it is asked; "what is the difference between who owns the property the RV is parked on?" Historically the majority of these types of requests happen on the member's property so rather then not cover any of them we decided to cover the ones on their own property. Each of the program guidelines are reviewed at least once a year.
