What part of I DON'T WANT JUNK MAIL do you NOT Understand?

On my membership, I have requested to be "opted out" of all mailings. I only want my renewal and my magazine (I believe I am getting the magazine online, have to check this).

So..... why does Good Sam feel that it's ok to let Camping World send me a catalog? I consider the Camping World Catalog to be JUNK MAIL.

I'm aware that Good Sam and Camping World are the same company. I'm aware that discounts at Camping World are a "benefit." I do not participate in this "benefit" (discounts) because:

1. I don't buy at Camping World all that much, there isn't one close to where I live.

2. I know that if I "participate" I will get junk mailed. It would be nice if I could get my "discount" without getting junk mailed.

When I called Good Sam Customer Service to complain, the customer service rep said "We don't have a way of knowing you DON'T want a 'benefit'."

Um, yes you did. I specifically requested "opt out" to ANY AND ALL MAILINGS (other than dues renewal) and I was promised that I was opted out. Yet SOMEHOW you "allowed" Camping World to send me a catalog. I do not consider that to be "honoring my request for opt out."

I contacted Camping World and was promised that my name was removed (not just marked "no mail" but actually REMOVED) from their data base. But it's only a matter of time before my name finds it's way back to their database because you will pass it on to them, despite my requests for "OPT OUT."

I do not consider this "resolved." I want Good Sam to implement a process to ensure that when a member says "I want opted out of all mailings" (except magazine and dues renewal) that a member will actually BE opted out, and not get catalogs from Camping World or get mailings on Good Sam Insurance.

I have a computer, if I need something, I will come to the website and check it out. I don't need MAILINGS to remind me of stuff.

I am not willing to "hear" that "you have forwarded my request to someone." I am only willing to "hear" that:

YOU ARE GOING TO IMPLEMENT A PROCESS TO ENSURE CUSTOMERS DON'T GET MAILED WHEN THEY DON'T WANT MAILED.

    Hello RVToadless,

I have verified that everything was stopped but this process can take up to 4 weeks to complete as the final things that we have mailed out arrive. My apologies for any trouble this has caused and if there is anything else I can do for you please let me know. Thank you and have a good day!

Your customers are telling you something here:
Your not doing a good enough job and 4 weeks is not acceptable. (Notice the period at the end of that sentence?)
  • In the past year, I attempted several times to change my membership address, both by phone and on their web site. But I still have to give my old address when I use my card because they never changed it. There seems to be a disconnect between communication by members and the office staff.
  • LOL, for some reason junk mail from GS is not a major irritant to me. I just throw what I don't want to look at in the recycle bin.

  • I suggest that at Goodsam rallys, all the members should dump their goodsam/camping world junk mail in a single bin and begin a digital photo collection of the piles that can be posted online social media ie Facebook, where we can expose this continued abuse of postal services and national resources. Or you could just dump it into your own recycle bin on the way back from the mailbox.
  • I often wonder if Good Sam realizes how many people they LOSE because of these mailings. I, for one, am one that will NOT sign up. Sorry Good Sam.....but I'm full-timing and NOT spending my time online to have the company I pay to forward my mail, shred your ads.....what a waste of time AND money for you!!!!!! Come on...we ALL know where to go to find your products.....put your time and money into BETTER SERVICE!
