What The..........

Today I received an email from Good Sam for member renewal. I will try to relay the content.

On the top in a red circled box it says:

Account Status: Payment is now due to continue your Good Sam Club membership. Please pay your membership dues now to enjoy all the great member benefits that the club has to offer.

after that there is this paragraph:

Dear NICK

Your Good Sam Club membership expires soon. Payment is now due to continue your full member privileges, including-INSTANT discounts on gas, diesel and much more at select Pilot and Flying J locations with the NEW SWIPE & SAVE Good Sam Club membership card, discounts at over 2,100 Good Sam RV Parks and Campgrounds, savings of up to 30% at Camping World SuperCenters and MUCH MORE.

At the bottom it says the following:

Plus, when you renew right away, you will receive your NEW SWIPE & SAVE Good Sam Club membership card that gives you INSTANT discounts on fuel directly at the pump.

But it's important to take care of this right away. Please pay your Good Sam Club member dues by 3/25/14.


I went and checked and my membership is good through August of 2014.

Didn't realize Good Sam Club was so hard up for money that they have to resort to this type of marketing.

    Really? You think this is an isolated incident? There have been numerous posts on these forums about this marketing tactic. I would wager that most people who get the 'early' warning don't bother to post about it, just throw it in the trash.

    I noticed that happening to me also. Now when I renew I note it on a chart and when it will be time to renew. JMO

  • Conversely, we are lifetime members and haven't gotten any such solicitations - nor have we gotten any "swipe & save" card nor an offer for one. Not a big deal for us, really, but it does seem that lifetime members should get a card...

    As far as being hard up for money, we've being getting solicitations from many other organizations to re-up, months before our membership expires. And magazines have been doing that for years. Not sure if it means anything or not, though of course the economy is still pretty bad.
