What's your experience with Good Sam Roadside Assistance?

For those truck campers who have/had Good Sam Roadside Assistance and needed to use the service, what was your experience?

I have said in many posts,NO to GS. I have Coach-net. Won't go into details again.
  • We have used them a few times over the years. Mostly Wife running battery down...
We prefer GS because I know they will tow all of our vehicles (if needed) TT, TC, boat, cars, trucks.

AAA may not tow your RV depending on where you breakdown. They are “regional” clubs and may not tow your RV depending on what region you have a breakdown.
  • I currently have an issue with them failing to provide service for a street plated vehicle because it was not in their database (they are failing to even follow up with me). In the past they have helped me out but they can be slow to dispatch help. When my wife had a no start issue with her car in hot weather and her mother was along, it could have been a health safety issue had there not been a local business in which to take shelter...
  • Check with your insurance. When their road assistance might not cover everything in RV business, TC go with the truck and yes, skilled tow truck operators will know what route to take with 14' tall rig.
My insurance charges me $10 a year for the coverage. The coverage has its limit, but than small change to pay.
  • you,ll read good story and bad storys what I have learned it all depends on which person you get on there end of the phone, some know there job some just want to get rid of you. BUT ,lately they,ve had a bunch of happy campers report in that service was great.
  • I paid for their service for ten years and used them once for a lock out. That's over $1,000 for a $65 servive. I now save my money and will pay for what I need when I need it.
  • I had it when we towed the TT and they bailed me out of two transmission failures. Sometimes you have to wait depending on who they have in an area, but overall I thought the service was OK for what you pay. It was always important to me because they would make arrangements to both tow the truck to a shop and tow the trailer to the nearest CG, and other roadside assistance services do not offer that. I have not renewed the service for the TC yet...can you can tow a truck with a TC still on it?
